On the field of first steps, there are squares cordoned off with strings close to the ground with paths between them. Some squares have footprints in them, and some don't.

There are paths between the squares in grid, where people can walk without disturbing the squares with the footprints. Little signs indicate the name and date of each entry in the grid.
